Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. In 1992, she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips along with the President Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
